Hi, Interested to hear from anyone who has experience with water softening and iron removal on a small scale? (Average daily consumption of under 500kL/day) Looking to get an idea of processes used and rough capital and operating costs if known
Hardness as CaCO3 sitting at an average of 300 mg/L and max of 700 mg/L from preliminary testing. pH~8 Iron varies greatly between 0.03 mg/L to 0.45 mg/L Thanks, Tegan

Hi Tegan I have managed a water treatment plant previously that removed iron and calcium (hardness) from bore water that was a 5ML/day plant. They dosed ACH and caustic soda to remove both, before allowing the treated water to enter a sedimentation
lagoon. The sludge would then float, with the subnatant collected and treated with HCl (to lower the pH) and dosed with chlorine. I am going from memory so I may be missing a step or two, but that was generally what they did. Couldn't give you approximate
costs though Cheers
