Welcome to the Water Directorate

All 89 councils and local water utilities that deliver water and wastewater services across regional and rural NSW are members of the Water Directorate

Our Vision

The Water Directorate was established in 1999 as a technical resource for member councils. We provide:

  • an independent source of advice to councils on water and sewerage operations
  • direction on technical issues
  • networking opportunities for water and sewerage engineers to share knowledge and improve communication within the industry

Sam Samra Award

The Sam Samra annual Award has been established as a memorial and acknowledgement of the late Sam Samra’s long term contribution, passion and dedication to the water industry. Sam was a great ally of local water utilities in NSW which benefitted from his commitment over a 50 year period.
