Hi all, Wondering if any Council is funding catchment improvements and revegetation on priate property, such as riparian vegetation, to improve raw water quality from the Water Fund. At tweed we have been dedicating the mandatory dividend for this purpose
ever siince the requirment to delcare the same. We are however concerned about the legalitiies of direclty funding catchment improvemetns from the Water Fund. regards David O.

Hi David, I'm aware of two of the county council's directing funds and resources towards catchment management activities. The connection to a LWU's business is based on the catchment-to-tap approach promoted by the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Although some may consider the link tenuous, it could be justified as complying with S.409 of teh LG Act if the catchment management investment has a nexus with reducing drinking water quality risk to complement water treatment barriers. Cheers Brendan Guiney
