Hi allCurrently at council we are having discussions around the use of master and sub metering for multi-dwelling residential developments. We after some information on how others are addressing these types of developments in regards
to connection policies, ownership of assets, billing, and compliance to best practice. As GWCC only covers small county towns, previously we have not had very many of these request and have generally have treated them as individual service connections/meters
and are billed as individuals, but now we are finding that multi-dwelling types of developments are on the rise.Any infomation on this issue is greatly appreciated.RegardsNigel MarionEngineering Officer Goldenfields Water County

Nigel, here at Tweed Shire Council we provide separate meters for individual units/dwellings in duplexes and triplexes but any multi dwelling residential development with more than 3 properties is supplied by a master meter. For large developments more
than one master meter may be installed. Council owns and maintains up to and including the master meter. The body corporate or neighbourhood association receives one water consumption account for the master meter/s at that property. It is their responsibility
to distribute the water costs as they see fit. Some install internal private meters to help with this cost distribution but Council takes no responsibility for reading, maintaining or replacing these private meters. Regards, Elizabeth Seidl eseidl@tweed.nsw.gov.au
