Can I use an RPEQ-certified engineer’s approval for the design of a steel and FRP staircase in New South Wales? Will the NSW council accept it as valid?. "This is a design and build contract, and the contractor has used Queensland Form 15 to get approval for their design. Thank You ....! Ravi

Hi Ravi, if your council has a building surveyor it would be best to ask them your question about council acceptance as a certifying authority. Essentially, the requirements for engineers to be Registered in NSW are limited to apartments, boarding houses and residential care facilities not water or wastewater infrastructure, more info at: https://www.nsw.gov.au/business-and-economy/licences-and-credentials/building-and-trade-licences-and-registrations/register/professional-engineers A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) would be recommended for structural work even though they are not required to be registered for water or wastewater infrastructure design in NSW.
