All of the providers Council have approached recently will only deliver this unit to qualified plumbers which our water network ops staff are obviously not. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on how to overcome this hurdle? To what extent
do you formally train your ops staff in backflow prevention? Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, at Tweed Shire Council we ensure that at least 2-3 of our Technical Officers have plumbing qualifications with backflow accrediation. These officers also do the annual tests on our Council-owned testable backflow devices. Regards Elizabeth

MidCoast Council have a Backflow Prevention Officer that is a licenced plumber by trade with the backflow prevention install and comissioning training's. Some of the field staff that install these devices are also licenced plumbers with the appropriate
training. There are licenced plumbers that work privatly that could be engaged to do the work, Council just needs to hold the register of testable devices mainly. LS
