Fellow members I would like to ask how other utilities manage water meter replacement programs. Do utilities manage with contractors or internal staff? How many meters do you replace per annum? Thanks in advance Matt Kidd WAPD

Eurobodalla Shire uses in house resources to replace water meters at 10 years for commercial meters, and 10 years or 5000Kl for residential meters. We started the program 9 years ago with the residential meters and so are almost complete. We will commence
replacing large diameter meters (after reviewing and updating individual back flow requirements) in 2021. The finance system will flag meters that exceed the age/mileage after each meter read.

Nambucca Valley Council replace domestic water meters that are 8 plus years old and have recorded over 3000 kL. We use in house resources and usually replace around 300 per year.
