Hello all,
As part of our recent NPR Audit the auditors identified deficiencies in the calibration of our water and sewer master meters (NWI indicator W1, W16, W18.5, & E3). The use of the term calibration has raised issues as we don't calibrate to AS2360 so I am wondering what others do?
Does anyone "calibrate" their meters as part of annual testing? If so to what standard?
If no what type of testing or verification do you do and to what standard ?
Thanks in advance

G'day Matt,
That's why we only got a "Satisfactory" assessment on our audit, as we only verify them in situ with our own verificator for ABB and Siemens magflows. We verify our magflows every 2-years as part of our ex-HACCP water quality assurances (now NSW DWMS). We are able to produce hard copy certificates from these verificators too.

Hi Matt,
I have seen your post and thought that i would comment from a suppliers point of view. I speak with many clients in the water industry and there is always confusion over "calibration" and "verification". A "calibration" would require removing the meter and testing against a known master meter on a flow calibration rig. "Verification" can be performed by suppliers or end users on the flowmeters while they stay in the pipe. Many magnetic flowmeters now offer verification capabilities. Some flowmeters can be "verified" internally, while others require external test equipment. You can also get hard copy reports from verification for record keeping. Verification is much simplier and more cost effective than calibration and generally this is what most clients we speak with are doing.
