The Sam Samra Award

Posted by: Gary Mitchell on 21/07/2017

The Sam Samra annual Award has been established as a memorial and acknowledgement of the late Sam Samra’s long term contribution, passion and dedication to the water industry. Sam was a great ally of local water utilities in NSW which benefitted from his commitment over a 50 year period.

Sam’s legacy is unlikely to be surpassed and it has many aspects. One of the most enduring aspects is performance benchmarking in NSW and on a national level. This award reflects on Sam’s passing and recognises his remarkable work.

Sam was well known for his extensive knowledge and attention to detail and he was highly regarded at the local, state and national levels for his work on performance monitoring and improvement. It is very fitting that the award in his name uses the performance monitoring data to identify the most improved local water utilities over the past 10 years in 4 categories:

  • small local water utilities, water
  • small local water utilities, sewer
  • big local water utilities, water
  • big local water utilities, sewer

Awards will be presented at the annual LGNSW Water Management Conference to the most improved local water utilities in the above mentioned 4 categories and one of these 4 winners will be presented with an award for the most improved local water utility overall.
