Subsidies
for Rainwater Tanks is not Common Practice
30
September 2004
Recently the Water Directorate sent
a short survey out to all our member councils to determine
how many councils are providing a subsidy for rainwater tanks.
We also wanted to know that if a subsidy was provided whether
it was for existing and/or new houses
.
Fifty
responses were received via the Discussion Forum representing
approximately 50% of member councils. The overwhelming result
was that 84% of member councils do not provide
a subsidy for rainwater tanks.
Of
the 16% of councils that do provide a subsidy 5 councils provide
a subsidy for both existing and new houses, 2 councils provide
a subsidy for existing houses only and 1 response did not
clearly nominate which subsidy was provided.
Thanks
to all the councils that did respond to this short survey.
The Water Directorate is now in a better position to comment
on the rainwater tank policy papers that are being prepared
by State Government departments.
