Over the past few months the WLMP staff have been extremely busy managing a total of 81 projects in 74 councils across NSW. As at the end of April 2010, 46 projects were in the investigation phase, 26 projects were in the funding phase and 9 projects were completed. The 9 completed projects have produced a combined water saving of 1,164 ML/year and it is estimated that when all 81 projects are completed by the first half of next year that another 6,000 ML/year of water will be saved.
With the allocation of Federal Government grant money ceasing on 30 June 2011 it is vital that participating councils adequately resource all individual water loss projects to complete them and submit the funding claims by 31 May 2011. It is expected that many of the projects will finish simultaneously and we want to avoid a log jam of funding claims in the last days of June. Please allow plenty of time for completion of the final administrative tasks to claim and receive payment!
