For the first time, and somewhat controversially, a winner in the Innovation in Water and Wastewater category was not announced at the IPWEA Excellence Awards Dinner.
Instead two councils received highly commended awards: Tumut Shire Council for the Brungle Sewerage Scheme and Shoalhaven City Council for the Conjola Regional Sewerage Scheme.
Congratulations to both Tumut and Shoalhaven for an outstanding effort. John Maxwell and Carmel Krogh were able to accept the awards on behalf of their council and communities. Congratulations to all the other nominees as well: Clarence Valley, Dubbo, Gwydir, Macleay Water, Port Macquarie-Hastings and Weddin Shire.
