Water Directorate promotes safety in the workplace
26 May 2010
At the recent WIOA Operators Conference held in Bathurst, the Water Directorate was keen to highlight the importance of safe working environments and suggested the program include three specific safety papers.
The first paper, by Ian Johnson from Paradox Ignited, highlighted the devastating consequences when something goes wrong in the workplace and you or your work colleagues are badly injured. The second paper, presented by John Werda of Sydney Water, highlighted the need for standard operating procedures on a wide range of tasks when working in the water industry, even the mundane tasks. The third paper, by Pat Davis of Riverina Water, looked at how organisations need to be proactive to protect the safety of workers, particularly lone operators working in remote locations.
For an overview of these papers and a wrap up from the recent WIOA Conference please see the WIOA Operator website. The Water Directorate appreciates the assistance of WIOA in promoting safety in workplaces and looks forward to more initiatives such as this one in the future.
