For the past seven years the Water Directorate and AWA have proudly sponsored the Conference Attendance Award for young water industry professionals.
The aim of this award is to assist a water industry professional from a regional NSW water authority with up to 7 years experience, including those in their final year of study, to attend the AWA's national water conference.
The winner of this award in 2010 received a full registration to OzWater gratis and was reimbursed up to $1600 for travel expenses. This year, Karen McKenzie, Operations Officer at Moree Plains Shire Council was the worthy recipient of the award.
Karen stated that as a result of attending OzWater ‘10:
"I am positive that the knowledge and current industry practice that I was exposed to during the conference can be used at Moree Plains Shire Council. I aim to disseminate the knowledge I gained to my colleagues. By being aware of current industry practice we can improve our service to the community."
