Nominations for NSW Operator of the Year are now Open

The NSW Operator of the Year award is presented by the Water Directorate to recognise excellent performance, initiative and all round attention to detail by an operator of water or wastewater treatment facilities. Following on from the success of the 2007 and 2008 awards, we are pleased to announce that this year the award will include a professional development trip to the New Zealand Operators conference. The prize includes air fares and accommodation arranged through WIOA. The award winner will also receive a perpetual trophy to be displayed at the council for 12 months and a smaller trophy to be kept by the winner.
Nominations from all water authorities in NSW are welcome and previous nominees are also welcome to renominate in 2009. The criteria for the determination of the winner is as follows-
1.
Nominees should be employed in NSW and should have direct responsibility for operational decisions at community water and wastewater treatment plants/or industrial water or wastewater plants.
2.
The following features will be taken into account in considering worthy recipients:
a.
Continuing education/training achievement;
b.
Overall plant management and condition;
c.
Demonstrated attention to Occupational Health and Safety and other regulatory responsibilities;
d.
Initiative and innovation, demonstrating improved treatment and efficiency.
Supporting evidence outlining the achievements of the nominee/s in relation to all the above criteria, any local community involvement plus any other supporting information should also be forwarded to the Water Directorate.
The presentation of this NSW Operator of the Year Award will be made at the annual WIOA Water Industry Engineers and Operators Conference (please link to www.wioa.org.au) This event is being staged in Tamworth with the presentation to take place at the Awards Dinner on Thursday 2 April 2009 where the recipient and all other nominees will receive recognition from their peers within the NSW water industry.
