Cutting, Handling and Disposal of AC Pipe Guidelines
24 April 2008
The latest in a long list of Water Directorate publications is a revised version of the Cutting, Handling and Disposal of AC Pipe Guidelines published in March 2008.
Originally published in March 2003, these Guidelines help local government councils meet NSW legislative requirements and to minimise the risks associated with asbestos products. This 2008 version supersedes and replaces the 2003 version.
The Guidelines were review by Daryl McGregor, Director of DLM Environmental Consultants, to include amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001 (under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000), which were gazetted on 25 May 2007.
The Water Directorate strongly urges Councils to implement standard operating protocols for the safe handling and disposal of AC pipes and to develop Safe Work Method Statements to identify and address the associated hazards and risks.
Additional copies of the Guidelines are available for purchase from the Water Directorate at a cost of $80 for member councils and $175 for non members.
