Since the closure of the program at the end of June, activities have concentrated on wrap up activities such as collation of data, report writing, disposal of assets and finalising accounts. Overall the three main achievements of the program can be summarised as:
Large water and energy savings across NSW LWUs.
Capacity building within many NSW LWUs.
Infrastructure enhancements to allow sustainability of savings.
The final report was submitted to the Federal Government last week and it states that 59 projects were completed and the total water savings was 5,435 ML. View the total water saved through this program on the 'meter' at www.waterloss.lgsa.org.au.
Negotiations with the State Government to produce a new WLMP, and build on the success and momentum of the original WLMP, are ongoing.
The Water Directorate would like to thank all 75 LWUs that have participated and all relevant staff for being involved in this program over the past 5 years.
