For the past six years the Water Directorate and AWA have proudly sponsored the Conference Attendance Award for young water industry professionals.
The aim of this award is to assist a water industry professional from a regional NSW water authority with up to 7 years experience, including those in their final year of study, to attend the AWA's national water conference.
The winner of this award in 2009 received a full registration to OzWater gratis and was reimbursed up to $1600 for travel expenses. This year, Sione Holaafolau, Manager Water and Waste at Upper Hunter Shire Council was the worthy recipient of the award.
Sione stated that as a result of attending OzWater 09:
"I now have the information and examples of projects that are both practical and economical, which I can investigate further and utilise within the Upper Hunter Shire Council."
