The Water Directorate's Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 12 November 2009. A quorum was achieved with 15 eligible attendees and all requirements under the Incorporated Associations Act were satisfied.
Stewart McLeod , Chair of the Water Directorate, noted that the previous year had been interesting because:
The Inquiry into Water Utilities continued with a final report expected to be released at the end of the year.
DWE was almagamated into the new super department, DECCW, and a new Office of Water was established in June 2009.
The joint WLMP continued and started to pick up pace as more councils signed on to the program.
There were a number of new faces on the Executive Committee following the elections in December 2008.
The drought continued in many parts of the State throughout 2008 and into 2009.
Gary Mitchell listed in his Executive Officer's report the following high priority activities from the past 12 months:
Membership remained unchanged at 95 member councils.
Four technical publications produced and/or sponsored over the period (one of these will be finished in 2009-10).
Undertaking the secretariat of the WLMP for the first half of 2009. At the end of the year, 66 councils had joined the program.
Attending conferences and sponsoring three water industry awards (IPWEA Excellence Award, Conference Attendance Award with AWA and the WIOA Operator of the Year).
