The Water Directorate was very pleased to support the 2nd Annual Water Leaders Congress in Sydney two weeks ago. Stewart McLeod, Chair of the Water Directorate, attended the Congress and found it to be a very informative gathering with delegates from a range of professions within the water industry. Keynote speakers included Dr John Williams, Chairman, Natural Resources Commission, The Hon Phillip Costa MP, Minister for Water and Regional Development NSW and Robert Freeman, CEO, Murray Darling Basin Authority.
Stewart McLeod chaired the second day of proceedings at the Congress and received excellent feedback from the attendees. During the Congress, he was interviewed by Rosalie Whitington of Free Range Multimedia and was able to put forward a local government perspective on issues discussed such as climate change, water reform at the State and Federal level and restoring water to Murray Darling Basin. Following on from the success of this year, the Water Leaders Congress is due to be held again in 2011.
