National Water Week is an annual event that aims to raise awareness and improve knowledge of water issues in Australia. Every year thousands of people across the country participate in a National Water Week event and this year it is focusing on Healthy Catchments, Healthy Communities. The dates for National Water Week this year are 16-22 October 2011.
We would like to encourage your council to plan an event for National Water Week - it is not too late. Your council could use the week to draw awareness to a current catchment issue or get involved by hosting activities or events in your area, following only three simple steps:
If you are a member of AWA you can also get involved in National Water Week by joining the Ambassadors initiative. AWA recruits ambassadors from the water sector to volunteer their time to visit schools and talk to students about water during National Water Week. This gives young people the opportunity to learn more about water, from an expert in the sector.
