This year the Water
Directorate is offering attendees at the IPWEA
(NSW Division) Annual Conference a chance to support the
important work of WaterAid Australia by donating their old
mobile phones to charity.
WaterAid
Australia, in partnership with the Aussie Recycling Program,
has established a mobile phone recycling scheme. The scheme
helps people dispose of their old mobile phones, whilst benefiting
both the environment and those in the developing world. All
old mobile phones collected are sent to the Aussie Recycling
Program to be repaired and sold in developing countries or
the parts are recycled environmentally. For every complete
handset, a $5 donation is made to WaterAid.
WaterAid
is an international aid agency dedicated to helping some
of the world's poorest people set up, operate and maintain
their own water and sanitation facilities, and to learn about
the association good hygiene practices.
As
a corporate member of WaterAid, the Water Directorate is are
pleased to be able assist with this fund raising activity.
A mobile phone donation box will be located near the registration
desk. So if you have an old mobile phone and was going to
throw it out – remember don’t dump it,
donate it!
