| New Algaecide
is now available |
18 November 1999
Further to advice in the September and October Newsletters,
the Water Directorate is now pleased to inform all Water
Managers that a new algaecide called CUPRICIDE has now been
registered with NRA and available for use in drinking water
storages, irrigation canals, fish farms, farm dams and many
other uses.
CUPRICIDE is a complexed chilated copper and unlike copper
sulphate, provides maximum algicidal efficiency with low
marine toxicity.
The two registered products are CUPRICIDE and COPTROL and
it is recommended that prices be checked before purchase.
Water Managers are advised that it is illegal to use an
unregistered algaecide and the Water Directorate recommends
use of only an algaecide registered with the NRA for use
in potable water.
For manufacturers names, details etc or for further information,
please contact the Coordinator of the Water Directorate's
Blue Green Algae Sub-Committee, Mr Mervyn Chapman.
