The Tweed Laboratory Centre was established in 1987 by Tweed
Shire Council to conduct water quality testing, and offers
a commercial testing service for other Councils, Government
Departments, developers and individuals.
The laboratory is a NATA accredited facility and is able
to conduct a wide range physical, chemical and microbiological
tests on waters, wastewaters, soils and sludges. The laboratory
undertakes testing for Tweed Shire Council and provides a
commercial testing service other Councils, Government Departments,
developers and individuals.
In addition to performing the required analytical work,
laboratory staff collect water samples and conduct field
tests. This is done both for Council's own water monitoring
programs and for external clients such as developers, other
Councils and Government Departments.
It is essential to ensure correct sample
collection and preservation procedures are used if the results
are to be
meaningful. The laboratory can supply a wide range of suitable
containers and preservatives, together with advice on the
most appropriate collection technique in accordance with
Australian Standards.
Samples may be delivered to the laboratory 8.00am to 4.00pm,
Monday to Friday, or they may be left at Tweed Heads of Murwillumbah
Council Offices. Samples can be collected from bus depots
by prior arrangement.
