World
Water Day is approaching fast and this year the theme is 'Water
and Culture'. This theme builds on the fact that there
are as many ways of viewing, using, and celebrating water
as there are cultural traditions across the world.
To
mark World Water Day, WaterAid Australia is encouraging water
industry staff to donate one hour’s pay directly on-line at
www.wateraid.org.au
WaterAid Australia aims to achieve a world where everyone
has access to safe water, effective sanitation and hygiene
education.
WaterAid
Australia advises that for a little as $33, we can provide
a child with safe water and effective sanitation for life.
As a Corporate Member of WaterAid Australia, the Water Directorate
encourages our 95 member councils to support WaterAid Australia
’s vision and passion. For more information on the 'Give
an Hour, Save a Life' initiative please contact Chris
Wootton on 03 9872 1732.
The
international observance of World Water Day is an initiative
that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment
and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro.
