Meets with Minister Sartor |
17
September 2004
Recently
the Chair of the LGSA Water Management Committee, the LGSA
Policy Officer - Water and the Chair of the Water Directorate
met with Frank Sartor, Minister for Energy, Utilities and
Sustainability to discuss a range of issues concerning local
government water businesses and the implementation of various
State Government policies.
A
number of positive outcomes were achieved and the Minister
has agreed to meet quarterly with the LGSA and Water Directorate
to continue these discussions. A full outline of the
discussions and the background to this meeting is available
in the attached pdf document.
Download the Ministerial
meeting pdf.
Prior
to meeting with Minister Sartor on 1 September, a small working
group, consisting of representatives from the Associations
and the Water Directorate , met to identify the key issues
faced by councils. In total 26 issues were raised. These issues
were gathered from from a range of sources and needed to be
prioritised due to having only an hour meeting with the Minister.
A
meeting was also held between the Working Group and representatives
of the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability
and the Department of Commerce. This meeting proved useful,
as it gave some insight as to what issues/work DEUS is currently
addressing/undertaking.
Please
contact Gary
Mitchell if you wish to discuss any issues that may need
to be raised with the Minister or at the Departmental level.
