The
Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW are seeking
to appoint a highly motivated and experienced person to manage
the Water Loss Management Program for NSW Regional Water Utilities.
This
Program is a joint initiative of the LGSA and Water Directorate,
funded by the Australian Government’s Water Smart Australia
programme. The Program will identify,
prioritise and facilitate on-ground work by Councils to reduce
water leakage in supply, distribution and reticulation systems.
The Program entails the purchase of specialist water loss
detection equipment and the provision of grant funding
to successful Councils for water loss rectification works.
A
key aspect of this role involves preparing business cases,
including cost/benefit analysis for projects submitted for
funding under the Water Loss Management Program, and working
to ensure grant payments, budget and reporting requirements
are delivered on time and within the parameters of the Program.
Essential
Criteria:
-
Graduate in Finance or Economics or Accounting. Post
graduate qualifications will be preferable.
- Experience
at a senior level in finance and project evaluation/cost
benefit analysis including the development of policies in
the water industry.
- Strong
business acumen and commercial judgement.
- Excellent
interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Good
computer literacy including the capacity to work with a
range of software.
- Knowledge
of and capacity to implement equal employment opportunity
(EEO), occupational health and safety (OHS) and ethical
practice, with the ability to apply these principles in
the workplace.
Desirable
Criteria:
-
Understanding of water industry issues including capital
funding and water pricing.
- Well
developed understanding of Local Government procedures and
policies.
