Forum in Moama |
27
August 2004
A
Water Managers Forum was held at the recent Water Management
Conference in Moama. The Forum was organised by the Water
Directorate and it was facilitated by Adrian Wells, Manager
Upper Murray, Murray Darling Association. Approximately 70
people attended the Forum, mainly technical officers and staff
from local government water utilities.
Three topics pertinent to water managers in local government
were discussed: the recent changes to the Country Towns program,
the implementation of the Best Practice Guidelines and the
timing of the introduction of the Best Practice Pricing.
The
Forum was very successful in raising issues that need to be
carried forward to the Department of Energy, Utilities and
Sustainability for further discussion. A meeting between
the Minister of DEUS, Frank Sartor, and representatives of
the LGSA and Water Directorate is scheduled for 1 September
2004.
A copy of the notes from the Forum are
available as a pdf download. Further feedback (including
comments and criticisms) can be sent to the Water Directorate
by email on info@waterdirectorate.asn.au or
posted on the Water Directorate's Discussion Forum at: www.waterdirectorate.asn.au/mailinglist/
