An
MoU was signed between the Chairs and Executive Officers of
both Water Directorates on 10 May at the recent Ozwater Convention
in Brisbane.
An
informal relationship has existed since mid 2004 when the
Queensland Water Directorate was established. This MoU formalises
that relationship by:
Identifying and coordinating strategic objectives where
possible;
Minimising
duplication:
Planning,
delivering and evaluating services where they serve a common
interest, and:
Identifying joint opportunities to improve the delivery
of water and wastewater services to our members and to the
community.
Both
Executive Committees are convinced that the principles of
the MoU will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the
operation of the NSW and Queensland Water Directorates and
should enable an increase in the number of technical publications
produced each year for all member councils.
The Queensland Water Directorate has recently joined the NSW
Water Directorate's current project to produce an O&M
Manual Template for Sewage Treatment Plants and the NSW
Water Directorate is seeking to join the Queensland Water
Directorate's proposed project to produce Water Loss Management
Guidelines.
