DEUS
has released a draft
proposal for amendment to the Integrated Water Cycle Management
(IWCM) Strategy Plan requirement. Local water utilities are
encouraged to comment on the draft proposal by Friday 15 December
2006 .
A
number of issues have been raised by LWUs regarding the integrated
water cycle management process since it became a requirement
under the Government’s Best Practice Management of Water Supply
and Sewerage Guidelines in May 2004.
DEUS
has proposed changed requirements for the strategic plan component
of the integrated water cycle management process. Full scenario
development and detailed system assessment will not be required
where:
only
few or minor issues are identified;
the
adoption of simple solutions such as leak reduction programs,
metering upgrades and demand management addresses the issues(s)
and;
there
is no need for major water supply, sewerage and stormwater
works within the next 10 years.

of any comments on the proposal. Please copy comments to Renee.Barbaro@lgsa.org.au.
