The
Water Directorate is very pleased that the IPWEA
Annual Conference has expanded its focus on water and
wastewater this year with a new forum session scheduled for
the afternoon of Tuesday 24 May 2005.
This new water session is based on the popular LGSA Water
Managers Forum and will generate some very interesting discussion
on the hypothetical question - what happens if
it doesn't rain for another 2 or 3 years? We
hope you are able to come along and share your views on the
sobering interconnections of Population Growth, Climate Change
and Drought at the new forum session.
Prior
to this forum session three technical papers will be presented
in the Water Supply and Wastewater Stream. The 3 papers are
topical and include: Murray Thompson on Port Macquarie's Urban
Reclaimed Water Supply Scheme; Phil Warner on Byron Bay's
Integrated Water Management Reserve; and Geoff Newton on Coffs
Harbour's Deep Sea Release Ocean Outfall.
As
in previous years, the Water Directorate is sponsoring the
Innovation in Water Supply and Wastewater Award as part of
the IPWEA Excellence Awards dinner. We are looking forward
to finding out which of the 8 nominees has won and congratulate
all the nominees for their very good entries.
If
you didn't receive a registration form and flyer distributed
to IPWEA members and Water Directorate member councils in
March, please contact Janice
Parker on 9943 6564.
