What Happens
if it Doesn't Rain for Another 2 or 3 Years?

The
Water Managers Forum at the recent IPWEA Annual Conference
was very well attended. Audience participation on the
topic of climate change was much appreciated. Thanks
to Will
Strachan, General Manager of Sustainable Water Solutions,
Department of Commerce for competently facilitating the Forum
and gathering answers from the panel to the question 'What
happens if it doesn't rain for another 2 or 3 years?'
Thanks
also to the four panellists: Piers Toop from the Department
of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability, John Anderson from
the Department of Commerce, Daryl McGregor, Chair of the Water
Directorate and Stewart McLeod, Deputy Chair of the Water
Directorate.
Two
of the many conclusions confirmed that water is well underpriced
and that the population should be encouraged to move to cities
and towns that are rich in water rather than moving water
long distances to cities. A copy of the notes from this workshop
are available below.
