The
IPWEA (NSW Division) Annual Conference is on 21st to 24th
May 2006 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney. Earlybird registrations
are closing on Monday 3 April 2006.
The
theme of this year's conference is "Getting on with the
Job" and a great line up of guest speakers and presenters
have been invited to discuss issues pertinent to public works
professionals such as "Is the job of Local Government
sustainable in 2006?"
The
Conference

Keynote Address by Bruce Corben, Monash University Accident
Research Centre

Workchoices Update, LGSA

Roads & Transport Directorate Forum

Water Managers Forum

Closing keynote address by Brigadier Hutchinson.

Technical
tours featuring several key sites in Sydney such as the
Oxford Street Upgrade, Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre and the
Glebe Foreshore Parkland.
Two
important sessions are planned for water industry professionals
including the three technical papers in the water and wastwater
stream and the Water Managers Forum on Global Warming.
The
Water Managers Forum this year promises to be one of the highlights
of the conference where the evidence for and against Global
Warming will be robustly examined. All Water Directorate
members are encouraged to attend the Forum and contribute
to this debate on Global Warming.
In
addition the winner of the Innovation in Water and Wastewater
will be announced at the Excellence Awards Dinner. Seven
nominations were received this year from Dubbo City Council,
Lismore City Council, Muswellbrook Shire Council, Port Macquarie
Hastings Council and Queanbeyan City Council. The Water
Directorate is pleased to sponsor this award on behalf of
our members.
