June 2006
The
Water Directorate and the Local Government and Shires Associations
have been jointly funded $7.387 million by the Australian
Government’s Water Smart Australia Program (administered
by the National Water Commission) to implement a Water Loss
Management Program for NSW regional water utilities.
The
water loss management program is part of the $1.6 billion
Water Smart Australian Program for which the first round of
recipients was announced in March by Malcolm Turnbull, Parliamentary
Secretary for Water.
To
oversee the management of the program a Governance Committee
of two Water Directorate representatives, two LGSA representatives,
one observer from the National Water Commission and one independent
member will be established.
An
Expression
of Interest for the position of Independent Member is
now available.
Someone
with strong rural and regional networks and extensive experience
at Board level, preferably involving natural resources or
water industry experience would be highly regarded for this
position.
Interested
persons are encouraged to contact one of the two nominated
contacts for more information. The EOI period will close
on Friday 16 June 2006.
