Member
councils will recall that the Water Directorate has been lobbying
for greater transparency and commitment by the State Government
in relation to the Country Towns Water Supply and Sewerage
Program for several years.
We
have sought on various occasions, information from our member
councils and we want to thank you for your co-operation over
the past months. The financial data and ranking information
that we have collated on over 200 schemes has been used for
the preparation of a Strategy Paper for discussions with Minister
Sartor.
The
Strategy Paper titled "The Need to Restore Funding"
is due to be completed shortly and will be distributed all
member councils for information prior to the LGSA Water Management
Conference beginning 31 August 2005.
