AND
WHILE YOU ARE IN BROKEN HILL …
Turn
your old mobile phone into water!
This
year the Water Directorate and LGSA are offering all conference
attendees a chance to support the important work of WaterAid
Australia
by donating
their old mobile phones to charity.
WaterAid
Australia,
in partnership with the Aussie Recycling Program, has established
a mobile phone recycling scheme. All mobile phones collected
are sent to the Aussie Recycling Program to be repaired and
sold in developing countries or the parts are environmentally
recycled.
For
every complete handset, a $5 donation is made to WaterAid.
WaterAid
is an international aid agency dedicated to helping some of
the world’s poorest people set up, operate and maintain their
own water and sanitation facilities.
A
mobile phone donation box will be located near the registration
desk, so if you have an old mobile phone and was thinking
about throwing it out – don’t dump it, donate it!
